This small, family operation produces a mere 4,000 cases of wine per year. But the fruit sourcing is impeccable, focusing on leased vineyards and contracted fruit from what principal John Drady calls, “the extreme Sonoma Coast.” Partner and winemaker Anthony Austin is a protégé of Andre Tchelistcheff who later went on to work in Santa Barbara as Freestone’s founding winemaker. Right now, the wines are made in a Sebastopol custom-crush facility, but the partners have applied for a permit to build a 10,000-case winery on the Balistreri property.
